Bellano - The former Cantoni Cotton Mill
Total GIA17.571 m²
The Urban Regeneration project of the Municipality of Bellano involves, among other operations, the redevelopment of the certain real estate complex, formerly the Cantoni cotton mill, a property of over 17.500 sqm.
The project arises from the demand for high-end accommodations that can satisfy the large influx of tourists that frequently visit the east coast of Lake Como. Considering the strong touristic development of the “Lake of Como” brand, there is a strong need for this project.
The intervention has several purposes: developing the aforementioned tourist accommodations, creating a day SPA (wellness, beauty) and building a museum, meeting rooms and training center, thus giving feedback to the need of larger cultural facilities. This project manages to create a space suitable for both touristic and business / cultural use.
All these facilities, therefore, support an emotional, highly cultural, and environmental tourism.
Bellano is a municipality and small town on the eastern shore of Lake Como in the Province of Lecco, found in the Italian region of Lombardy and located at the northern outlet of the Valsassina valley.
The town's main attraction is the Orrido, a small canyon formed through erosion by the Pioverna river before entering the nearby lake, a process that began 15 million years ago. The church Santi Nazario e Celso (built in 1348) is in a Gothic style. Bellano is the setting of most of the novels by local writer Andrea Vitali and the birthplace of the 17th-century writer and poet Sigismondo Boldoni.
